Cabinet extends decree on shop opening hours

Council of Ministers decided on Wednesday to extent until August 31 tourist shop opening hours under the current arrangements.

“The Council Of Ministers during today`s meeting at the Presidential Palace under Acting President of the Republic Yiannakis Omirou decided to extend the existing tourist decrees until August 31 2014 under the same arrangements regarding the opening hours of shops both on weekdays and on Sundays,” an official press release says.

Opening hours on Sunday begin on 10:30 am until 19:30 with the exception of the areas of Famagusta, where shops can be open from 7 am to 23:00 pm at the proposal of Mayors and other local stake holders, the release writes.

This differentiation is justified by the fact that the same opening hours were implemented in the past, as well as by the conditions of the area.
