Cyprus tops medals list at small state games

Cyprus has topped the medals list in the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) being held in Andorra with 21 gold, 18 silver and 12 bronze medals.

Only yesterday, Cyprus won eight gold, eleven silver and five bronze medals.

Second comes Iceland with 18 gold, 14 silver and 16 bronze medals followed by Monaco with 10 gold, three silver and 13 bronze medals.

Today, last day of the games, Cyprus competes in the shooting (skeet and double trap), women’s and men’s volleyball, basketball, swimming, taekwondo and table tennis.

The Cypriot team is made up of 138 members.

The GSSE take place every two years with Cyprus, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, San Marino and Malta taking part.

The closing ceremony in Andorra will take place on June 4.
