The Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA) organizes the “TAXIDI 2011” exhibition, which constitutes the ideal forum where the Cypriot traveler can obtain valuable and comprehensive information on tourist destinations and travel packages.

The exhibition will be opened this Friday by Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Antonis Paschalides. More than 40 exhibitors will participate in the exhibition.

President of ACTA Victor Mantovani said that tour operators, airline companies, national and local tourist organizations, district offices from Cyprus and Greece, Cyprus and international hotels, foreign countries and other travel and holiday related parties participate with their own pavilions.

Mantovani referred to statistical data, according to which 2010 has been a record year as regards trips abroad by Cypriots. He said that in 2010 Cypriots made 1,246,373 trips abroad, compared to 1,173,000 in 2009, thus recording an increase of 6.3%, while the increase compared to 2008 reached 3%.

He added that 787.000 out of the 1,246,373 trips abroad in 2010 were mainly for holidays. Greece remains the main holiday destination for Cypriots.

The TAXIDI exhibition has been established as a very useful annual event, which Cypriot travelers await with anticipation in order to explore their options not only for their summer holidays but also for their future trips, Mantovani said.

Participants provide visitors with information about available packages but also about specialized holiday trips abroad and equip them with printed material containing comprehensive information including the cost of the various options on offer.
