Eurogroup chairman Jean-Claude Juncker said on Monday he would support a European Union freeze on assets of Egypt's former president Hosni Mubarak.

Asked in Brussels ahead of meeting of euro zone ministers and officials if he would support such a freeze, Juncker replied: "Yes."

Any decision on restrictive measures against Mubarak or other Egyptian officials would have to be taken by the bloc's 27 member states.
