Cyprus continues talks with Qatar on a joint development project in Nicosia, government spokesman Stephanos Stephanou said Friday.
He noted that letters have also been exchanged between the two governments within the framework of ongoing talks.
President Demetris Christofias' interest in the matter remains strong, he said, adding that the matter has been discussed between the president and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, at their meetings.
Cyprus and Qatar signed two agreements and four memoranda of understanding last April in the sectors of air services and the creation of a joint venture for a leisure development opposite the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia, including a five-star hotel, a shopping mall, offices and apartments.
