Punters in Cyprus and Greece are streaming to the OPAP betting shops in the hope of winning the big prize of 10 mln euros in the Joker on Thursday, the third highest winning in four years.
The same game awarded a record 19 mln euros in April, while three winners shared the 14 mln euro prize on Christmas Eve in 2006.
The Lotto will give away 7 mln euros today and Thursday’s pot for the Proto game is 150,000 euros.
Demos Ellinas, Chief Financial Officer at OPAP Cyprus, told the Financial Mirror that a total of 10 mln coupons were played in Sunday’s Joker when the big prize stood at 8 mln euros and Cypriots accounted for 18-19% of bets. Cypriots were once again the biggest punters in the latest Lotto, accounting for 20% of all coupons played, while a Cypriot also won the last Proto prize of 805,000 euros.
