Over 200 companies so far have asked to be included in the bicmmunal Directory of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot Businesses, the compilation of which has been undertaken by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce.

According to a press release issued by the CCCI, the project is an effort to develop real cooperation between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot businesspeople, in the framework of the project ''Economic Interdependence''.

The basic goal of the project, which is financed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP-ACT), is to promote economic interdependence between the communities, through strengthening business and economic relations among the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot businesses.

The activities of the project, which started in April 2009 and is expected to be completed by July 2011, include carrying out a survey of the existing situation as regards to interdependence between the two communities, the development of ideas and activities for further economic cooperation and convergence.

Furthermore, bicommunal business meetings and seminars on the Green Line Trade regulation will be carried out, as well as granting subsidies for the establishment of business cooperation and the compilation of a bicommunal business directory.
