The first Cyprus economic forum on “The World Economic Crisis and Tomorrow” was held in Limassol last week where the speakers analysed topics concerning the economic environment, when the world financial crisis is anticipated to end, the effect that the crisis has upon new E.U. members, the subsequent steps of state economies as well as the future prospects of world markets and the newly emerged reality.
The forum, organised by SFS Group Public and BNP Paribas (Cyprus), in cooperation with EDT Offshore and TFI Public Co., heard distinguished personalities from both the local and international economic and political fields discuss the prospects that lie ahead after the end of the current economic crisis.
Some of the guest speakers included Professor Dominique Moisi, founder and senior adviser to the French Institute of International Affairs, Dr. Michalis Sarris, the former Minister of Finance of Cyprus, Oltmann G. Siemens, co-chairman of the Advisory Board of First Trust Portfolios L.P. and Kenneth Wattret, Chief Eurozone Market Economist at BNP Paribas.
“The forum was put together in order to discuss not only if the global economy will return to growth, but how business and global markets will operate in the near future and how far that near future may be,” said Christodoulos Ellinas, Chairman and CEO of SFS Group, at the end of the event attended by 350 business leaders.
Pierre-Marie Fourier, Managing Director of BNP Paribas (Cyprus) Ltd, highlighted the great significance of the forum and its inclusive issues that were discussed. He also expressed his wish that the Economic Forum will be further embraced as a customary event in future years.
