Wall Street rises as U.S. dollar slips

U.S. stocks rose at the open on Tuesday as the U.S. dollar hit a 1-year low against the euro ahead of the start of a Federal Reserve policy meeting, boosting oil and metals prices.

The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI) was up 47.84 points, or 0.49 percent, at 9,826.70. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (.SPX) was up 5.66 points, or 0.53 percent, at 1,070.32. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC) was up 10.23 points, or 0.48 percent, at 2,148.27.
