President of the Republic Demetris Christofias has expressed optimism over the course of the Cyprus' economy while he praised the work of the Minister of Finance and his colleagues “who are working day and night”.

In statements during his today’s visit to the Housing Finance Corporation in Nicosia, President Christofias said that Cyprus's growth rate will be between 1,5 and 2% while in other EU countries this rate will be -5%, as he noted.

“I am optimistic about the course of the Cyprus economy due to the fact that we have an imaginative Minister of Finance who with his staff is trying day and night to create new ideas”, he added.

He went on to say that “I would like to thank them for their constant concern so that Cyprus will be the exception and it will be the exception within the EU and the Euro zone”, he underlined.

President Christofias said that despite the fact that Cyprus and its economy faced many crises in the past, it managed to overcome them thanks to the responsibility of its citizens and their love for their homeland, he concluded.
