Pork prices down, chicken and tomatoes up

The Statistical Service has issued producer prices for a range of locally produced goods, showing a fast increase in the prices of chicken and tomatoes but a drop in the price of pork and stability in the price of milk.

Pork, chicken and milk

The producer price index of pork for September increased to 145 units from 142 units in the previous month. The index decreased by 2% in the third quarter of 2007 compared with the respective quarter of 2006.

The producer price index of chicken meat for September reached to 144 units from 139 units in August. In the third quarter of 2007 the producer price index of chicken meat increased by 26.4% compared with the third quarter of 2006.

The producer price index of cowsmilk for September increased to 138 units compared with 133 units in the previous month. The index in the third quarter of 2007, remains at approximately the same level with the corresponding quarter of 2006.

 

Fruit and vegetables

The producer price index for fruits increased by 9.6% in September 2007 and reached to 195 units compared with 178 units in August 2007.

The producer price index of fresh vegetables increased to 237 units in September from 155 units in the previous month. The index increased by 44.3% in the third quarter of 2007 compared with the respective quarter of 2006.

The producer price index of tomatoes for September reached to 224 units from 231 units in August. In the third quarter of 2007 the producer price index of tomatoes increased by 36.6% compared with the third quarter of 2006.

The producer price index of cucumbers for September decreased to 147 units compared with 163 units in the previous month. In the third quarter of 2007, the index increased by 7.9% compared with the corresponding quarter of 2006.
