Registered jobless reaches decade low in November

Registered unemployed registered at District Labour Offices, based on data adjusted for seasonal fluctuations, reached November 2019, the lowest level since February 2010.

According to official data, unemployed persons registered on the last day of November reached 24,495.

Based on the seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for November decreased to 20,860 persons from 21,233 in the previous month.

Compared to November 2018, a decrease of 4,019 or 14.1% jobless was recorded.

This was attributed mainly to the sectors of trade (a decrease of 676), construction (-596), public administration (-467), accommodation and food service activities (-331), manufacturing (-255), transportation and storage (-200). Among newcomers to the labour market, there was a drop of 982.

The number of registered unemployed does not include those self-employed or people seeking part-time work.
