Maravilhosa organised a well-attended ‘brainstorming’ event at the Londa Hotel in Limassol which gathered various industries and age groups, from the public and private sector, where the discussion focused on “Are we encouraging passion and creativity in our workplaces?”.

Hosted by Cyprus Marine Club at Londa Hotel in Limassol on 28 May, the first session of the newly launched Brainstorming Series.

Maravilhosa founder Muriel Matta decided to create a new initiative to develop further her annual panel discussion on shipping into an interactive and practical brainstorming series open to all industries and chose co-host Cyprus Marine Club for her initiative.

The keynote speech was delivered by the Shipping Deputy Minister Natasa Pilides, who stressed the importance of passion, perseverance and creativity in the shipping industry.

Pilides highlighted the importance of teamwork and open dialogue between the public and private sectors and the essential role of this collaboration in ensuring the enhancement of the existing business environment in such a way as to encourage creativity and innovation.

In his welcome speech, Capt. Eberhard Koch, Chairman, CEO and Partner, Oesterreichischer Lloyd Shipping Group welcomed the Cyprus Marine Club’s first brainstorming event and said the Club lives from the extraordinary 107 members so far.

Captain Koch said that in July 2018, Maravilhosa was piloting the Club members to create its slogan “The Fellowship of the Seas”.

And when Maravilhosa introduced the idea of a brainstorming session a couple of months ago, the entire board was enthusiastic.

Captain Koch thanked Muriel Matta for the tremendous, hard work to organise this very special event and concluded by wishing everyone to be influenced, energised and inspired by the brainstorming session.

Initiatives were shared for discussion under three main topics: education and career path in the workplace, government and public affairs, charity and corporate social responsibility and were addressed respectively by Taleen Tchalikian (HR Director, Celestyal Cruises), Andreas Chrysostomou (CEO, Marine Fields Holdings and Chief Strategy Officer, Tototheo Maritime) and Thrasos Tsangarides (Group CEO, UMAR|WSR).
