CYPRUS: Earthquake off Limassol with a magnitude 4.4 felt across the island

A tremor with a magnitude of 4.4 in the Mediterranean Sea off the Limassol coast was felt across the island on Monday but there were no immediate reports of any injuries or structural damage, according to the Cyprus geological survey.

It said the tremor happened just after 2pm local time with the epicentre some 40 kilometres southeast of Limassol (Zygi) at a sea depth of 5km.
The quake was felt in Limassol and some areas of the capital Nicosia.

Cyprus is situated in a region that is prone to frequent minor earth tremors.
