CYPRUS: Foreign trade deficit expands to €3.8 bln

The external trade deficit for January – October 2017 reached EUR 3.8 bln, an increase of 18% compared with the respective period of 2016.


According to the Statistical Service Cystat, total imports in January-October 2017 amounted to EUR 6,319.3 mln as compared to EUR 5,578.7 mln in January- October 2016.
Total exports in January- October 2017 were EUR 2.450,8 mln compared to EUR 2.300,3 mln in January-October 2016.
The trade deficit was EUR 3,868.5 mln in January- October 2017 compared to EUR 3,278.4 mln in the corresponding period of 2016.
Total exports of domestically produced goods, excluding stores and provisions, in January- October 2017 amounted to EUR 1,005.4 mln compared to EUR 762.0 mln in January- October 2016.
Total domestic exports of industrial products in January- October 2017 were EUR 915.2 mln compared to EUR 664.1 mln in January-October 2016.
Total domestic exports of agricultural products in January- October 2017 were EUR 84.4 mln compared to EUR 88.3 mln in the respective period of 2016.
