CYPRUS: AIPFE President receives WEF 17 award at New Delhi forum

Anna Koukkides-Procopiou, President of AIPFE Cyprus-Women of Europe received the WEF17 Award for ‘Iconic Women Creating a Better World for All’ at the annual Women Economic Forum (WEF) in New Delhi, India this week.


 
She was also among the main speakers at the plenary session on ‘Creating a Better World for our Children-II’, facilitated a workshop on ‘Women Waging Peace: the case for inclusive security’ and hosted a round-table discussion during the conference on ‘Women, Peace and Security,’.
The week-long WEF gathers passionate women leaders and entrepreneurs from over 100 countries at its mega marathon spectacular conference in New Delhi, with the annual conference ending on Saturday. A rich confluence of leaders and achievers were scheduled to share and speak across 41 themes and 520 sessions and workshops under the overall theme of ‘Women: Creating, Innovating, Understanding and Driving the Future’.
The WEF extensive program has been built with the committed participation of a widely constituted advisory board and advisory executive council (AEC) of over 500 people from around the world. This is to ensure meaningful dialogue on topics that engage the needs of all participants from different fields, cultures and backgrounds. This year, Anna Koukkides-Procopiou was invited to become a member of the AEC of the global forum.
The vibe of the conference is to enhance audience engagement. What’s more, companies, institutions and startups, such as BMW financial services, Fortis Escorts, Facebook, Google, and Teach India will share their ideas and initiatives.
Dr Harbeen Arora, Founder and Global Chairperson, ALL Ladies League (ALL) and Women Economic Forum (WEF) said: “WEF is a supportive platform where women from all walks of life can come and empower their skills, attitudes and networks. This year almost 18 Women Economic Forum events would get organized across the world; with the purpose of giving women worldwide greater voice and visibility.”
Anna Koukkides-Procopiou is the President of AIPFE (International Association For the Promotion of Women of Europe) Cyprus-Women of Europe. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre of European and International Affairs at the University of Nicosia and a Researcher with SeeD Centre for Sustainable Peace and Democratic Development, her work mainly focusing on gender inclusive security foreign policy and political risk analysis. Currently working towards the attainment of her PhD in leadership and crisis-management, Anna holds First Class degrees in History and Economics from University College London and an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics. She is also a recipient of the Executive Development Diploma for Professionals mini-MBA from the Cyprus Institute of International Management. Anna was also the Project Manager for two EU-funded projects – Women Fit4Business and Gender Diversity in Decision-Making Positions while currently managing an Ernst Young scholarships programme for unemployed female university graduates which she has initiated.
