Digital Cyprus, a web-based open-source platform to host all information about Cyprus, will be available to the public by the middle of the year.

The platform, which is currently only accessible to work groups, was presented this week by Cyprus Digital Champion and Director General of the Ministry of Commerce, Tourism and Energy Stelios Himonas, who said that the vision was to create and maintain an internet community of volunteers who love Cyprus and to help gather information about Cyprus, freely accessible to all.
Digital Cyprus was conceived by the NGO Future Worlds Centre Chairman Yiannis Laouris and is based on the same free principles and software as Wikipedia.
Himonas said Digital Cyprus is an online encyclopaedia exclusively about Cyprus and the whole project depends on volunteers, while more working groups will be joining later to deal with specific subjects.
