MOTOR: Cyprus Rally 2014 kicks off today

The Cyprus Rally 2014 Starting Ceremony begins today afternoon in front of the Ministry of Finance in Nicosia.

The cars will leave the ramp and instantly enter the Super Special Stage for 5.98 kilometers of rallying action through the city streets, passing through an area in the Turkish occupied town of Nicosia, and then return to the government controlled areas.

The first stage of the Rally begins on Saturday with eight special stages of a total of 66,20 kilometers.

The procedures began yesterday with a practice Stage in Ayios Sozomenos, outside Nicosia, which offered 4.47 kilometers for testing.

The Cyprus Rally 2014 will also host the 9th round of the 2014 European Rallying Championship and will take place from the 19th to the 21st of September. Alongside the ERC event, the Cyprus Rally will also host the 5th round of the Middle-East Rallying Championship. This would be the first time that a rally hosts not one but two FIA Championship rounds.
