President Nicos Anastasiades inaugurated the Minthis Hills Golf Resort on Wednesday, saying the €600 mln project in Tsada is the cornerstone of development.

The President praised Elias Eliades, CEO of the Pafilia Group that owns the project, saying that “this important project for Paphos proves the dynamism of Cypriot entrepreneurs.”

“Projects of this magnitude and importance remind us all that we Cypriots are determined not only to stand on our feet, but to move ahead” and exit the current economic crisis, by achieving more in a shorter time.
Anastasiades added that he listened to Eliades’ complaints that it took seven years for the projects permits to be approved.
“Imagine which foreign investor would be interested in Cyprus if we had such timeframes, which I hope will be something of the past,” he said, explaining that his administration wants to speed up and simplify procedures in order to attract more foreign investors.

Anastasiades also said that it was important that during times of high unemployment, this project has already hired 120 people and more will find work as the project enters its next phases of completion.
Minthis Hills was conceived through a collaboration of Pafilia, the architectural firm Woods Bagot and masterplanning and architecture firm Atkins.
The first phase includes the main artery road and project infrastructure, the first residential community, an 18-hole championship golf course complete with practice facilities and driving range, a nature trail, and a clubhouse that includes a restaurant, with a culinary team trained by Alain Ducasse, a bar, sports lounge, business centre and pro shop. Additionally, the resort is home to Stavros Tis Minthis, a 12th century monastery.

When completed, Minthis Hills www.minthishills.com will include a luxury spa, village square, health club, equestrian centre, tennis academy and over 500 private residences.
