German Minister of State for Europe in the Federal Foreign Office Michael Roth will be visiting Cyprus from September 17 to 19.

During his stay, Roth will be received by President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and will hold meetings with the negotiators of the two sides for the Cyprus problem, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Kudret Özersay.

Furthermore, he will meet with Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Alexander Zenon, with whom he will sign a Technical Arrangement concerning cooperation during evacuation operations from crisis regions. In his capacity as a Member of the German Parliament, Roth will also hold meetings with prominent party officials on both sides of the divide.

On September 18, Roth will give a public lecture followed by a discussion at the Goethe Institute, on `Germany and Cyprus in a Changing EU`.

According to a German Embassy press release, Roth will be accompanied by Social Democratic Party MP Heinz Joachim Barchmann, and Green Party MP Manuel Sarrazin.

The visit builds on the visit of President Anastasiades to Germany in May and will contribute to further strengthen the already excellent relations between Cyprus and Germany, the Embassy notes.
