The first in a series of 2014 presentations shedding light on start-up companies was given by professionals on Thursday February 6th to an audience of possible investors and members of the CYBAN group, a unique non-profit Business Angels network in Cyprus.

During the presentations, which take place quarterly, all interested investors are given a first glimpse into investment opportunities with new pioneering companies handpicked by CYBAN for their great prospects for success.

At the recent presentation, the founders of FUNIFI και BREATH MEDICAL enthusiastically gave members of the audience insight into their innovative ideas and upcoming business plans, placing emphasis on the various factors which give their respective company a competitive edge, while also documenting the prospects for growth and reasons for which their companies make for a good investment.

FUNIFI motivates kids to get their chores done, teaching them responsibility and providing them independence through their unique incentive based platform. FUNIFI’s innovative parent insights algorithm, virtual currency and team expertise working together with the world’s number one rated gamification guru makes it a unique solution to a very big problem. The FUNIFI team consists of established young professionals; namely Andrew Michael (CEO), George Vou (CMO), Denis Constantinou (Art Director) και Lach Lespe (CTO). BREATH MEDICAL is a spinoff of GINER Inc (USA), a world pioneer in electrochemistry that works in corporation with the renowned Cypriot, Klearchos Papas, Professor of Surgery and Scientific Director of the Institute of Cellular Transplantation at the University of Arizona. Via research on diabetes stem-cell therapy, Papas’ research team- in collaboration with GINER- has developed a pioneering technology for the lengthy preservation of human organs via oxygenation while they are being relocated for transplants. Wide recognition of this discovery is one of the main focus areas of BREATH MEDICAL.

Additionally, Savvas Hadjixenofondos, representing the High Efficiency Renewable Energy (H.E.R.E.) Company, presented the discovery of a novel mechanism for converting reciprocating motion into rotational motion, with minimum energy losses and enormous potential for commercial applications.

It is worth noting that four such presentations have been given until the present day, which has seen nine companies provide insight into their business plans. The first of these companies, involving distinguished Cypriot scientists in the field of genetics, has already received €1,85 million from a team of CYBAN investors. Negotiation regarding a €420,000 investment in two innovative online companies by CYBAN members has now also reached its final stages.
