Agriculture Minister Nicos Kouyialis said that efforts are underway this year to reduce production costs for farmers, primarily by reducing the cost of electricity, water and grain.
The Minister said that the year 2014 will include a lot of reforms in the area of agriculture economy but it will also mark the efforts to reform the public sector in Cyprus.
Kouyialis admitted that it is going to be a difficult year, adding that in a couple of months the project for agriculture development will be ready and that the government will re-examine the structure of some semi-governmental organisations that deal with the agriculture sector such as the Cyprus Grain Commission and the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organisation.
