Startup Weekend Cyprus: Calling all entrepreneurs

Startup Weekend Cyprus, the local edition of a global initiative encouraging entrepreneurship, will take place in Nicosia on December 6-8 where participants will have one minute to pitch their idea and the audience will vote on it.

If the concept has merit, the potential entrepreneurs will set up teams and work over the next 54 hours to create a business model, coding, design and market validation. The weekend will culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback. If all goes well, a startup company or business is in the making.
Startup Weekend, supported in Cyprus by Microsoft, MTN, Hellenic Bank and PwC, is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 400 past events in 100 countries around the world in 2011.
Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a cofounder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. The event will take place at the University of Nicosia Research and Technology Center and is open to any budding entrepreneur who can register now .
“No talk, all action. You can launch a startup in just 54 hours,” said Lydia Zannettou, curator of Cyprus Startup Weekend that evolved from the Startup Live Cyprus and the Open Coffee Cyprus initiatives. She also plans to host the first TEDxLimassol.
