The International Labour Organisation is willing to assist Cyprus in its efforts to create an action plan to deal with the economic crisis, said Director General of the ILO Guy Ryder, at a meeting with the Cypriot Labour Minister Zeta Emilianides, on Monday, in Geneva.

An official press release issued here on Tuesday said the meeting’s objective was to strengthen cooperation between Cyprus and the ILO and find ways through which the Organisation can provide Cyprus with technical assistance to address unemployment and alleviate the social impact of the crisis.

Speaking to the Board of the ILO, the Cypriot Minister noted that the situation on the island remains difficult, but the Government makes every effort to overcome the negative impact of the crisis on the labour market, by promoting growth and competitiveness and by taking measures to support the labour market.
