China ready to sign agreement for cultural cooperation with Cyprus

Vice-Minister of Culture and Director of State Administration of Cultural Heritage of China, Li Xiaojie, has assured that he will do everything necessary so that a programme for cultural cooperation with Cyprus for the period 2013-2017 can be signed during the visit of Cypriot Minister of Education and Culture Kyriacos Kenevezos to China in December.

Li is in Cyprus heading a six-member delegation for the signing of an agreement to prevent the theft, the illegal excavation and the illegal import and export of cultural artifacts.

Kenevezos, who met Li on Tuesday, praised the excellent relations between the two countries in the sector of culture, and assured he would further promote them.

The Cypriot Minister said developing relations in the cultural sector was important for Cyprus, adding that China is a significant partner in this effort.

Furthermore, Kenevezos said cooperation between Cyprus and China would be enhanced with the signing of the programme for cultural cooperation.

Li confirmed that the relationship between the two countries was excellent and noted that they should be maintained and strengthened.
