Education Minister announces results of 2013 Pancyprian examinations

A total of 2,190 places for the higher and highest educational institutes of Cyprus and Greece’s military and theatre schools, have been offered to Cypriot students for the academic year 2013-2014.

The results of the 2013 Pancyprian examinations were announced Monday by the Minister of Education and Culture Kyriakos Kenevezos, who said that he was completely satisfied with the results and noted that the exams were carried out with transparency and secure procedures.

Despina Papaioannou from Limassol ranked first, achieving the highest general grade of 20/20. She secured a place at the University of Cyprus Department of Accounting and Finance.

The Education Minister said that 9,274 students initially applied to participate in this year’s exams, out of which 6,244 claim a position in Cyprus’ and Greece’s state universities.

He said that today 2,104 seats have been allocated, of which 1,425 at the University of Cyprus, 509 at Cyprus University of Technology, 85 at the Higher Hotel Institute, 84 at Greece’s military school and one seat at Greece’s theatre schools.

A total of 86 seats have been additionally offered for the next academic year. Of those 37 by the University of Cyprus, 35 by the Cyprus University of Technology, 11 by the Higher Hotel Institute and 3 by the Greek military schools, therefore the total number of seats stands at 2,190.

The Minister said that the allocation of seats offered to Cypriot students by Greece’s state universities will be administered by the Greek Ministry of Education soon.
