The 2013 Offshore Technology Conference kicked off in Houston, Texas, attracting the interest of thousands of professionals from the energy industry from 110 countries, including Cyprus.

The annual event is expected to bring to Houston 100,000 visitors, according to the estimates of the organisers, and is also being attended by representatives of Cypriot private companies interested in the field and related business areas.

The OTC showcases technological advancements for offshore drilling, exploration, production and environmental protection.

Apart from visiting the exhibition area – over 60,000 square meters wide – participants can attend presentations and panel sessions, to discuss developments in the field or forge business partnerships.

OTC organisers expect more than 2,700 companies from 42 countries to exhibit their products and services in this year’s event, almost half of them coming from outside the US.

The event, which is being held in Reliant Park, Houston, until Thursday, was founded back in 1969 and ranks among the largest 200 trade shows held annually in the US.
