Cyprus outbound tourism dropped 1.2% in 2012

Outbound tourism from Cyprus dropped by 1.2% compared with the previous year in 2012, according to figures based on the Passengers’ Survey.
In January – December 2012, 1,194,053 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad compared with 1,208,899 in the same period of 2011.
While inbound tourism from Russia rose by more than 40% in 2012, outbound tourism to Russia fell by 7.9% to 51,121, compared with 55,508 in January – December 2011.
In December alone, there was an increase of 0.6% as 82,352 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad compared with 81,890 in December 2011.
There was an increase of 8.3% in the number of trips of residents to Greece (from 26,204 in December 2011 to 28,385 in December 2012) and an 11.8% increase in visits to the the United Kingdom (from 25,657 to 28,681 last year).
