Cyprus social and personal services valued at EUR 836.7 mln in 2010

Gross output of the category of “other social and personal services” decreased by 1.2% to EUR 836.7 mln in 2010 from EUR 847.2 mln in 2009 according to the Statistical Service.
Value added of the sector at current market prices fell by 1.9% to EUR 585.7 mln in 2010 compared with EUR 596.9 mln in 2009.
Its contribution to gross value-added fell to 3.7% in 2010 from 3.9% in 2009.
Within the private sector 35.4% of the total value added was generated by the “other” service activities, 34.8% by households as employers and 29.8% by arts. entertainment and recreation.
In the public sector 97.9% of the total value added was generated by arts, entertainment and recreation and 2.1% by the other service activities.
Employment in this sector 38,806 persons. accounting for 9.4% of the total economically active population and 10.3% of the total gainfully employed population.
Gross fixed capital formation in the sector was just EUR 55.3 mln, down from EUR 74.7 mln in 2009.
