Two Grant Agreements were signed on Wednesday between the Republic of Cyprus and Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway, one concerning the inter-sectoral programme financed by the Grants of the European Economic Area (EEA) and one concerning the inter-sectoral programme financed by the Grants of Norway

According to an official press release issued here Thursday, the Planning Bureau will operate the two programmes that will include eight projects. Three of the projects will be financed by the EEA grants with €2,163,500, while five projects will be financed by the grants of Norway with €3,445,000. The projects will be implemented by state institutions as well as by Non Governmental Organizations.

Most of the projects have a bicommunal dimension, encouraging cooperation and dialogue between the two communities in Cyprus.

Bilateral relations between Cyprus and EEA countries will be further strengthened through the promotion of exchanges between the two sides that will lead to the transfer of knowledge and expertise.

The Agreement was signed on behalf of the Cyprus government by Planning Bureau Permanent Secretary George Georgiou and on behalf of the three states by the Director General for Europe and Trade at Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Elisabeth Walaas.
