CYPRUS: Rate of inflation in September 2.5%, on a y/y basis

The rate of inflation in September 2012 in Cyprus was 2.5%, on a year-to-year basis, compared to 2.7% in August, according to data released on Thursday by the Statistical Service.

For the period January-September 2012, the Index rose by 2.7% compared to the same period of 2011.
In September 2011, inflation had risen by 2.4%.

Compared with August 2012, the Consumer Price Index rose by 0.75 units or 0.63% and reached 119.80 units, from 119.05 units, mainly due to increases in the prices of clothing, fuel, gas, certain fresh fruits, potatoes and pork. On the other hand, air fares and the price of certain fresh vegetables dropped.
