CYPRUS: May 2012 Retail Trade Turnover volume index declines by 3.4%

Cyprus Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade for May 2012 declined by 3.4%, compared to May 2011, according to figures released on Friday by Cyprus Statistical Service.

May 2012 Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade amounted to 109.6 units down by 3.3 units or 3,1% compared to 106,3 in April 2012. Year on year, the Index decreased by 3.9 units or 3.4% compared to May 2011.

For the period January-May 2012, the Index recorded a reduction of 2.9% compared to the corresponding period of 2011.

June Turnover index is projected to reverse the downward path, as provisional estimates show an increase by 7.4 units or 6,7% to 117,0 units compared to 109,6 in May 2012.

For the period January-June 2012, the Index is provisionally estimated to have a decrease of 2.8% compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
