Cyprus trade deficit (prov) widens in August

The trade deficit based on provisional data from the Statistical Service widened in August to EUR 480.8 mln from EUR 416.9 mln in August 2010.
Total imports/ arrivals were provisionally estimated at EUR 586.2 mln and total exports/dispatches at EUR 105.4 mln.
Of the import total, EUR 358.6 mln constituted arrivals from other member states of the EU and EUR 227.6 mln imports from third countries.
Of the export total, EUR 64.7 mln constituted dispatches to other member states of the EU and EUR 40.7 mln exports to third countries.
For the period January-August the trade deficit is provisionally estimated at EUR 3.33 bln, compared with EUR 3.48 bln in the same period of 2010.
