The number of residents of Cyprus returning from a trip abroad dropped by 7.8% in May 2011, to 88,171, compared with 95,660 in the corresponding month of 2010.
This was after an increase of 20.6% in April.
The main reason appears to be a 20.7% drop in visit to Greece, as well as very sharp falls in visits to neighbouring Middle Eastern countries such as Egypt (down 50.5%), Lebanon (53.6%) and Syria (73.4%).
These offset a 10.9% increase in trips to the UK.
