Australia's central bank has decided to sell out of a bank-note joint venture at the centre of a police investigation into corruption allegations.
The Reserve Bank of Australia said on Tuesday it would sell its 50% stake in Securency International Pty Ltd after potential buyers approached the bank. Its joint-venture partner, Innovia Films, is also selling its stake, the bank added.
Securency, which produces a polymer used to make bank notes in Australia and 27 other countries, called in the police last year over allegations that the joint venture's money had been used to pay kickbacks to foreign governments.
