A delegation of representatives from 23 Cypriot companies dealing with solar thermal energy and air-conditioning have attended, in the US, a seminar on air heating and cooling by using solar energy.

In statements on behalf of the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation, Paris Anastasiou said that the members of the delegation attended various lectures organized by the professor of Arizona University Patric Phelan, which they found useful.

He noted that there are universities in the US which deal with issues regarding the use of solar energy, as in Arizon and Florida.

“We met representatives of this sector who gave us detailed information on the situation and the prospects ahead. During our contacts we received proposals for cooperation with American enterprises not only for the purchase of technology but also to provide our know-how.”

He noted that Cyprus is the first country in the world as regards the use of solar boilers and said that there are good prospects in the US for Cypriot businesses.

A reception was hosted in honour of the Cypriot delegation at the Commercial Centre of Cyprus in New York, in cooperation with the Cyprus-American Commercial Chambers and the Cypriot Federation.

Cyprus' Commercial Counselor in the US Aristos Constantinou noted that Cyprus has the highest per capita use of solar boilers and according to a statement by Vice-President of the European Parliament it is a model for Europe.
