Cyprus’ Jan-April turnover volume for retail trade declined by 1.2%

Cyprus' January – April 2010 Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade decreased by 1.2% compared to the corresponding period of 2009, according to figures released on Wednesday by Cyprus Statistical Service.

The Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade for April 2010 amounted 109.1 units, recording a decrease of 6.6 units or 5.7% compared to 115.7 in March 2010. The Index decreased by 6.4 units or 5.5% compared to April 2009.

According to provisional estimates the Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade for May 2010 increased by 5.2 units or 4.8% to 114.3 units compared to 109.1 in April 2010.

For the period January-May 2010, the Index is provisionally estimated to have a decrease of 0.9% compared to the corresponding period of 2009. The Index increased by 0.3 units or 0,3% compared to May 2009.
