The EU-harmonised inflation rate (HICP) in Cyprus fell to 2.3% in February, from 2.8% in March, according to the latest figures from the Statistical Service.
However, this was still considerably higher than the 0.9% recorded in March 2009.
The main increase in prices was recorded in the prices of housing, water, electricity and gas, which leapt by 15.1%, and transport, which rose by 6.1%.
The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages were 2.1% lower in March 2010 than in March 2009.
During the first quarter, the HICP recorded an increase of 2.5% compared with the corresponding period of 2009.
