Cyprus retail trade down provisional 3.3% in December

Retail sales in Cyprus dropped in volume terms by 3.3% over the year earlier in December 2009, according to provisional figures from the Statistical Service.
This was a milder drop than the fall of 6.6% in November and the 4.2% in October.
For the period January-December 2009 retail sales volume is provisionally estimated to have decreased by 3.5% compared with the corresponding period of 2008.
According to revised figures for November, retail trade volume fell by 6.6% over the same period of 2008.
Meanwhile, by value, retail sales fell by 3.0% in December over the year earlier according to provisional figures.
According to revised figures for November values were down 7.8% over November 2008.
For the period January-December 2009 the value index is provisionally estimated to have decreased by 3.0% compared with the corresponding period of 2008.
