Cypriot tennis player Marcos Baghdatis exhibited one of his best performances so far on Australian ground and knocked Australian Lleyton Hewitt out of the “MediBank International Sydney”, with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 quarter-final victory.

Baghdatis started the match being down 1-3, came back saving two set points at 4-5 of the first set. However, he did not manage to gain the break point and bring the game to 5-5, losing the first set 6-4.

From then and on, it was the Cypriot champion who took control of the game, winning the next two sets easily 6-2 and 6-3 and the ticket to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Baghdatis will now face the winner of the game between Australian Peter Luczak and American Mardy Fish.
