Cyprus prelim trade deficit drops in November

The trade deficit in Cyprus fell to EUR 373.0 mln according to preliminary figures for November, falling by 23.6% compared with the EUR 488.4 mln recorded in the same month of 2008.
According to the preliminary figures, total imports/ arrivals amounted to EUR 441.6 mln, of which EUR 305,1 mln consisted of arrivals from other member states of the EU and EUR 136.5 mln imports from third countries.
Total exports/dispatches reached EUR 70.8 mln, of which EUR 42.6 mln were dispatches to other member states of the EU and EUR 28.2 mln exports to third countries.
Meanwhile, according to revised data, the trade deficit in January-October 2009 was EUR 3,894.4 mln, compared with EUR 5,270.6 mln in January-October 2008.
Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) in January-October 2009 reached EUR 4,698.9 mln, compared with EUR 6,256.6 mln in January-October 2008.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states) in January-October 2009 reached EUR 804.5 mln compared with EUR 986.1 mln in January-October 2008.
