Cypriot entry wins first prize in youth environment campaign

 A Cypriot entry won first prize in a campaign during the school year 2008-2009, aimed at cultivating awareness among young people concerning CO2 emissions.

According to a Ministry of Education and Culture press release, the Saint John Lyceum in Limassol won the prize for a project titled ''Stop the madness, save the planet''.

The team comprised students Kalia Theodorou, Michalis Papapanayiotou and Constantinos Savvas, under the guidance of Physics teacher and Assistant Headmistress Maria Loizou Theodosiou.

The campaign was organised by the partners and members of the EU programme Comenius Lifelong Learning ''SUPPORT: partnership and participation for a sustainable tomorrow''.

A total of 603 schools took part in the campaign with 2,059 workgroups from all over the world. Forty projects met the criteria of the competition.
