A delegation from the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA) took part in the international conference of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) held in Milan, that focused on “Global Investments: Charting the Recovery Map”.
The members from 197 countries voted for changes to various clauses in the constitution including the process of approving new members and determining that only internationally recognised jurisdictions will be approved for membership.
This change was the result of a CIPA initiative to exclude the Turkish Cypriot Investment Promotion Agency (YAGA). The President of WAIPA, who is also the President of the Brazilian Investment Promotion Agency (APEX), addressed the elimination of YAGA and applauded CIPA’s activities to encourage increased transparency in the process of registering new members in the organisation.
CIPA was represented by board member Kyriacos Kokkinos, Director General Sotiris Sotiriou, Director General and Marina Theodotou, Director of Business Development.
CIPA also sponsored the welcome reception after the completion of the annual assembly and presented the advantages of Cyprus as an attractive investment destination and international business centre.
