(Revision) Cyprus motor registrations drop steeply in Jan-Sep

The latest data from the Statistical Service show that there was a steep decline in motor vehicle registrations in the first nine months of 2009.
Total registrations of motor vehicles during the first nine months of 2009 decreased by 25.7% to 40,024 from 53,877 vehicles in the same period of 2008.
Private saloon cars decreased to 28,748 from 38,837 in January – September 2008, recording a decrease of 26%.
Of the total private saloon cars, 11,861 vehicles or 41.3% were new and 16,887 vehicles or 58.7% were used vehicles.
Goods conveyance vehicles decreased by 18.6% to 5,469 in 2009, compared to 6,720 in 2008.
Light goods vehicles decreased by 16.1% to 4,327, from 5,155 in January- September 2008.
Heavy goods vehicles decreased by 27% to 1,142 in January-September 2009, from 1,565 in 2008.
Mechanised cycles decreased by 22.4% to 3,903 in 2009, compared to 5,028 in January -September 2008.
