Cyprus tourism revenue tumbles in September

Revenue from tourism in Cyprus fell by 19.1% over the year earlier to EUR 200.2 mln in September, compared with EUR 247.4 mln in September 2008.
Tourism arrivals in the same month were down 9.6%.
For the period January – September 2009 revenue from tourism is estimated at EUR 1,233.3 mln, a fall of 16.1% compared with the EUR 1,470.2 mln recorded in the corresponding period of 2008.
Tourism arrivals in the first nine months of the year fell by 10.7%.
Revenue has been hurt by weak sterling, since the UK still accounts for more than half of all tourists.
