Cyprus trade deficit shrinks by nearly EUR 1 bln in Jan-July

The Statistical Service of Cyprus has announced the publication of the monthly report “Intra-Extra E.U Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for July 2009, showing that the trade deficit shrank by nearly one billion in January-July, compared with the same period of 2008.
The main developments in Cyprus foreign trade were as follows.
Total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) in January-July 2009 amounted to EUR ,.276.4 mln, compared with EUR 4.377.6 mln in January-July 2008.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states) in January-July 2009 reached EUR 567.4 mln, compared with EUR 700.9 mln in January-July 2008.
The trade deficit was EUR 2,709.0 mln in January-July 2009, compared with EUR 3,676.7 mln in January-July 2008.
During July 2009 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) amounted to EUR 491.2 mln.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states), including stores and provisions, in July 2009 amounted to EUR 89.3 mln.
Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, reached EUR 42.7 mln whilst exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, reached EUR 46.6 mln.
