President of the Republic Demetris Christofias has assured he will continue to help and contribute in every possible way in the efforts and work of the Pancyprian Association to Fight Hunger, announcing the government has decided to offer 20 thousand euro to the association.

In a speech on Tuesday evening at the association’s gala dinner, the President remarked that the world in which we live in is incredibly contradictory as there is a number of Croesus who accumulate wealth and live in luxury, whereas millions live in conditions of poverty, hunger and indigence and are victims of the exploitation of their wealth by foreigners”.

The President praised the association’s work and Bishop of Kition Chrysostomos’s contribution, adding that the money, which it collects annually, is used for adoption and for scholarships for orphan children, for building and equipping hospitals, maintaining orphanages and contributing to countries which have been affected by wars and natural disasters.

To implement these noble aims, which we consider ours too, we have decided to contribute 20 thousand Euro as a symbolic contribution to the multifaceted work which you perform with dedication throughout the years, President Christofias stressed.
