Cypriot MP to attend OSCE meeting on financial crisis

Cypriot MP and member of the Cypriot delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Athena Kyriakidou departs tomorrow for Dublin to participate in OSCE PA Economic Conference to be held 27-29 May.

According to an official press release, the “World Financial Crisis” is the theme of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s sixth Economic Conference.

The sessions of the Conference will cover such topics as free trade and protectionism, financial regulations and good governance and the social consequences of the crisis – the case of migration.

The keynote address will be given at the opening session on 27 May by Ireland’s Minister of Finance, Brian Lenihan. Other speakers include the Presidents of the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Irish Parliament, OSCE PA President Joao Soares as well as experts from businesses and banks in many of the participating countries.

At the invitation of the Irish Parliament, around 90 parliamentarians from over 30 countries are expected to participate in the conference, which is held every two years under different themes.
