Cyprus industrial turnover down in 7.6% February

In February 2009 the industrial turnover index in Cyprus is provisionally estimated to have reached 112.2 (base 2005=100), recording a decrease of 7.6% compared with February 2008.
For manufacturing, the index for February 2009 recorded a decrease of 7.3% compared with February 2008.
During the period January-February 2009, the index recorded a decrease of 6.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
The biggest fall has been in consumer durables, down 18.1%, followed by intermediate goods, down 13.5%.
Even consumer non-durables (mainly food) recorded a small decline of 0.1%.
As of January 2009, the industrial turnover index is published with a new base year (2005=100) and according to the new version of the statistical classification of economic activities, NACE Rev. 2.
