Cyprus Shipping Chamber's Immediate Past President Capt. Dirk Fry has been re-elected as Member of the Board of Directors of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and Vice President of the International Shipping Federation (ISF), during the joint Annual General Meetings of ICS and ISF held in London on May 18-20.

A press release issued by the Cyprus Shipping Chamber said the main discussion topics of the ICS/ISF Annual General Meetings concentrated on Piracy and the Global Warming of our planet and the measures taken by the International Shipping Industry to reduce even further the amounts of green house gas emissions. This reduction aims to economise on consumable sources of energy with the construction of even more environment friendly and energy efficient ships, irrespective of the fact that Shipping has the lowest pollution records in the world as far as transport is concerned.

The Immediate Past President and the Director General of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Dirk Fry and Thomas Kazakos, represented the Cyprus Shipping Industry at the important meetings.

''During the meeting, Capt. Fry was re-elected as Member of the Board of Directors of the ICS and Vice-President of the ISF, thus showing the high recognition the Cyprus Shipping Chamber is enjoying among the International Shipping community, an achievement, which is considered to be a big success for Cyprus Shipping in general,'' the press release concluded.
